ELMAZ WILDER

The author and founder

Hey, I’m Elmaz Wilder a Canadian, adopted from Romania at 3.5 years old. I’m a proud Roma Gypsy. Growing up, I felt disconnected from my body but didn’t have the words for it. I came out as non-binary at 28 and as a transman at 31. My transition over the last four years has taught me a lot about myself and my place in the world. As a barber for 12 years, giving queer folks gender-affirming cuts is more than just a haircut—it helps people feel seen. This work inspired me to advocate for the trans community and create a workbook to guide others on their journeys.

I want this workbook to be in as many hands as possible because I know how much it can help those on their journey. With support, I could create more workbooks, including ones for families and partners of trans folks, to help them better understand and support the trans people in their lives. My vision is to grow on a larger scale by hosting trans retreats and workshops, creating spaces where people can find community, self-acceptance, and guidance on their own paths.
